Vishnu Maya Swami Velekkat Temple, the revered and historic Kuttichathan temple in Kerala, provides solace, blessings, and prosperity to devotees.Velekkat Temple, situated in the scenic village of Kazhimbram in Thrissur district, is renowned for its potent Vishnmaya deity. It takes pride in its unique rituals designed to address and resolve the challenges impacting one’s mind and body.
Kuttichathan, an embodiment of Shaivite power, emerged when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati assumed mortal forms. According to belief, Lord Shiva took this form to bless childless devotees, Kalakkattamma and Kalakkattachan.
Kuttichathan, a demigod in the folklore of Malabari Hindus, is often portrayed as a chubby teenage boy. Known for his mischievous nature, Kuttichathan’s pranks, such as transforming food into excrement or turning beds into thorny beds, bring trouble to those affected but never inflict severe harm.
Lord Shiva, known as the father of Kuttichathan, assumed the disguise of Valluvan alongside Parvati as Valluvathi, and together they had two children named Karuval and Kuttichathan. Kuttichathan, born with a black body, a flower on the forehead, and three eyes, was entrusted to a childless Namboodiri from the Kalakatt illam.
